“When a woman smiles”

French fashion label, Vionnet was founded in 1912 by Madeleine Vionnet on the principle of rejecting corsets and restrictive clothing. Known as the “Queen of the bias cut”  Madame Vionnet passionately believed in clothes that accentuated the natural curves of a woman’s body.

While Madame Vionnet died some 30 years ago, one month short of her 100th birthday, her label is flourishing producing beautifully cut pieces from stunning fabrics which remain true to her dictum that  ”when a woman smiles, then her dress should smile too.” Now that’s a woman after my own heart.

I’d be smiling if I were wearing any of these pieces from Vionnet’s 2011 and 2012 collections.
