    Hi Kate

i’m loving your home… the mix of luxe and eclectic. i am just wondering where you got your curtains from. i know from the article the aqua curtains are from david jones, how about the curtains in the living room? also, are they both silk, or a polyester? i am looking for that slubbed raw silk look, but i am concerned about them fading and rotting. did you use an interlining?

    thanks for your help Kate.

    regards,
    Lena.

      Hi Lena,
The living room curtains are also raw silk. They are fully lined and I have had them for 3-4 years and no fading at all. In my previous apartment I made some silk curtains myself (out of silk saris I had purchased in India) and they faded really quickly – within 12 months they needed replacing. The lining is also really necessary for the front ‘shop’ window otherwise it is impossible to heat the room in winter. Also, I find they hang better with proper lining/interfacing: you don’t need as much fabric to make them appear quite voluminous.
I got them from DJs for two reasons. Firstly, their range of shot silks was gorgeous and couldn’t find them elsewhere. Secondly, I bought them on a payment plan: interest-free for 3 years which I paid monthly (about the cost of one coffee per day). Warwick Fabrics has a similar line but I found the colours to be not as beautifully vibrant and you also have to them stump up the money in one go.
      I hope that helps.
