A hint of the things to come
2012 will see some changes at urban kaleidoscope. I am really excited and can’t wait to launch my new site and share the posts I have planned. There is going to be a whole lot more original content and photographs of inspiring, albeit unknown, places and spaces.
To kick start the year and to give you a hint of the things to come here are some photos of my place. Here’s the place near our front door where we leave things (I won’t refer to it as a landing strip a la apartment therapy, as in Australia that means something very different). There’s no room in our entrance for any furniture, so this nook is the hallway substitute and one of the first things you see when you come to visit.
The walnut cabinet my husband found in an op-shop as a student, the blue glass vase is Ikea, the smoky 1970s jug is from eBay, the long white glass vase my best friend gave me when my son was born, the mirror is from an antique shop in Sydney, the musk single stem Venetian vase belonged to my grandmother, the plastic 1970s lamp my grandfather, a stack of Wallpaper City Guides, the small ceramic owl was given to my husband on the occasion of a significant birthday, my sunglasses, pink peonies from my favourite florist, Flowers Vasette and finally, my treasured teal note book made from recycled paper and leather by Paperthinks.
